When you have a skin condition like acne, you’re expected to cover it up in public. You’re expected to wear full coverage makeup because the people who’ve seen your skin without it told you so. They told you so because it looked “disgusting” to them. They remind you of your skin condition everyday and even call you “the girl with the bad skin” instead of using your name.
I was alway made to feel ugly because of my skin, by both insensitive guys and insecure women who thought by calling me ugly, and teasing me because of my skin would make themselves look more attractive.
I wish I was subscribed to someone on YouTube years ago, who could tell me “it’s okay” to not wear a full face of makeup. ” It’s okay” to have imperfect skin instead of making videos on how to hide your skin like its something to be ashamed of.
I’m making this video for 19 year old Ruby who didn’t want to go out with friends or go on dates with boys because she was fearful of their rejection because of it.
